This is a general contact post for Faramir. If you're interested in plotting or RPing with him, then this is the place to start. (He's predominantly movie based, with the finer details of his background and future fleshed out using the information from the books.)

I also welcome constructive criticism and advice, as well as canon corrections whenever necessary. No one is infallible, and, although this is my interpretation of the character, I welcome input from other fans and writers. It’s always good to know what works and what doesn’t.

Comments are screened, just in case, but you're very welcome to contact me on AIM or by email if you prefer. The details are all in my journal profile.

I can also be reached fairly easily via my personal journal, [livejournal.com profile] atraphoenix, but please keep in mind that I live in the UK and operate on GMT.

WILL GO HERE

My lady, I will do what you ask of me. I will go to this place, this castle, without complaint. But you must promise me one thing. You must not take the memory of my brother from me.

To have only the dimmest recollection of our time together ... to be unable to recall his face or voice ... no. It is a cruelty beyond imagining.

[And the alternative?]

... Éowyn?

You would have me remember only that I fell in love during my time in the Houses of Healing? You would take away the memories of who I loved and why?

You will not succeed. No manner of magic is strong enough to make me forget the woman who holds my heart.

Tell me, my lady, what have you chosen for me?

Though he had no doubt that her mind was occupied with pressing matters and the continuing safety of her people, Faramir knew that he would not rest easily until he had heard of Éowyn's good health from her own lips. She was recklessly brave and her heart was heavy with sorrow. In ordinary times, such a combination would be perilous. In a time of war, it could place her in mortal danger.

He was seated in his chambers when he switched on his communication device to address Éowyn alone. The memory of her behaviour around Lord Aragorn was fresh in his mind - and stung more than he had expected (or would care to admit) - but nothing would stop him from continuing to be a friend to her.

"My lady," he said, when he had finally gathered the courage to speak, "Your brother has told me something of the battle at Helm's Deep. How do you fare?"

The morning of Faramir's last day on Middle-earth dawned fair and bright. Though his heart was heavy and the knowledge that had been given was a great burden to bear, he could think of no finer day on which to say his goodbyes.

He had woken to find Minas Tirth bathed in the warm oranges and reds of the sunrise, turning the white spires and towers of the citadel into pillars of brightest gold. For a moment, all he could think of was how much this city - the city of his birth and the only home he had ever known - meant to him and how he would give anything to protect it from the enemies that surrounded it.

A moment later, he realised that he would soon sacrifice his very life for the sake of Minas Tirith. Very soon. )
ifishouldreturn: (forever in your shadow)
Faramir had lived his whole life in Minas Tirith, but he could not remember a night when the city had slept soundly. For years beyond memory, the shadow of Mordor had stretched, dark and foreboding, across the lands of Gondor. When the threat – which had once been nothing more than the ghost of battles past and victories hard earned – solidified into something real and the agents of the enemy began to spill out of Minas Morgal, the people of that once fair land were not surprised. Afraid, yes, but not surprised.

Though he lived in the midst of the uncertainties of war, Faramir had no doubts about his own place in the scheme of things. )
